Grethe Kjolby

Having studied linguistics and graduating with a Bachelor’s degree from the Business School of Administration – Herning, Grethe launched her Marketing and Sales career in the FMCG industry in the late-1980s.

Grethe began by reintroducing McVitie’s brand biscuits in Denmark and Sweden with an award-winning TV advertising campaign that she developed, driving +20% growth for the brand. Following this success, she joined Kraft Foods with responsibility for overall marketing and sales in Denmark for quite a delicious part of that business, Confectionary. Grethe drove Marabou sales to an all-time high in Denmark and helped develop Toblerone into the world’s second-largest per capita confectionary – and that’s a lot of delicious chocolate triangle consumption – all while focusing on “de-complexing” the businesses.

In 2000, Grethe made the leap to the Health & Beauty Care industry when she joined Procter & Gamble’s Gillette Group in Denmark, with direct selling responsibility for the country’s BRAUN shavers and Oral-B toothbrushes, along with Duracell batteries. During her tenure there, she helped negotiate European price harmonization for the brands, implemented a “good-better-best” consumer strategy and managed to grow sales by +8%. Grethe capped her FMCG career with Castus fruit bars by negotiating trade agreements with more than 25 countries and becoming the private label fruit bar supplier to the Tesco and ASDA grocery chains.

In 2009, Grethe left the FMCG industry to begin a new chapter in her life, teaching negotiation to others. Her calm, pragmatic and results-oriented approach, coupled with 20 years of hands-on FMCG sales and marketing experience have earned Grethe the thanks (and some rave reviews!) from those she has trained. Grethe resides in Roskilde, Denmark, is an active tennis player and golfer and enjoys international travel with friends.
